Description

The PLR-22 pistol is chambered for the popular and economical .22 Long Rifle cartridge (.22LR). It is based on the 5.56mm NATO chambered PLR-16 pistol and shares many parts including the grip and front and rear sights. The PLR-22 is not a simple conversion kit, it is a standalone firearm chambered for the .22LR and is designed for target shooting, plinking, or small game hunting. The PLR-22 operates by blowback action and has a 4140 steel bolt that rides on steel guide rails inside the polymer receiver. The ejector is attached to one of the guide rails and the recoil spring is located above the barrel. The cross-bolt safety and magazine release operate identically to the PLR-16 and SU-16.

The PLR-22 and SU-22 will accept many of the same accessories as the PLR-16 and SU-16 including the slings, stocks, and compact forend. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and the front sight is adjustable for elevation. An integrated picatinny rail on top will accept a multitude of sighting options. The muzzle end of the barrel is threaded ½"-28 to accept standard attachments such as a muzzle brake. A 26 round magazine is included and it will accept magazines designed for the Atchison M-16 conversion.

Is "emergency gun" not a proper term? Not everyone has perfect grammar or terminology. Why don't you contribute something positive instead of ripping on other people's posts? I like the gun and I do my best to say it. -- What a troll

It appears as if your idea of an emergency and my idea of an emergency are completely different animals. Sorry if I offended your feelings. I'm sure this is a great fun-gun, but a 2.5lb pistol chambered in 22lr. would not be what I would grab if by chance an emergency arose in which a handgun was required to stop a violent crime from occurring. To each their own...point taken, and godspeed to you sir.

As to WooHoo's comments, they aren't even worth replying to...lol.

I'm not the one who started off throwing insults but you are on a high horse? LOL.

I assume the original poster was suggesting an "emergency gun" was something versatile, light, cheap, easy to shoot that you could you keep in a trunk, bag, etc IF there was an unexpected EMERGENCY (emergencies are not often broadcast ahead of time) but luckily you will have time to grab your M249 or have the money to have them in all six of your cars when the SHTF. You sir should be very proud of your superior preparations but not fault others for lacking your expertise.

BTW, if you want proof that a small 22lr is a popular emergency gun....err "prepper must have" please check out the abundance of 10/22s out there, especially the take down models.

I absolutely love my 10/22 take down. Great rifle. And yes, in a SHTF scenario, it would be one that I would pack on my way out the door. As for the M249, would love to have one but unfortunately I believe they would be way out of my price range...legalities aside.

Let's just hope (for your sake) SHTF hits while you are at home, near your gun safe. I think Eyeheard will be better prepared the other 2/3s of the time. I agree, a 22 pistol is not my go to battle rifle or my CCW gun of choice but could have its place in an emergency kit; will not break the bank if stolen, easy to transport and conceal, can be fired repeatedly without ear protection, and having better range than most pistols....All the while being fun on the side. Just my uninformed opinion.

P.s. I'll buy an M249 once they come out with a compatible Sig brace ;)

I honestly did not see anything wrong with your post. I guess "emergency gun" is bad to some people but not sure why. He probably only buys things that are "tactical" and has a bugout bag, get home bag, active shooter bag, bailout bag, etc in every one of his cars. Gotta remember that guy is probably an "operator."

The PLR22 is a FUN gun. It's one of those guns we always end up grabbing on a shooting day out. I think it makes the perfect emergency gun too. Super lightweight and a perfect compromise on barrel length between a rifle and pistol. It takes the common black dog magazines that like 5 other popular guns take. There's no recoil so a stock is not needed. 30 rounds of 40 grain ammo is a nice household deterrent too. You can add a 5.5" barrel extension with a drop of solder and then add a stock too if you like. The keltec 556/223 version is compatible with the 22 version- you can swap grip/trigger stock part. Or you can SBR it. There's are lots of "upgrade" options out there like hand guards and muzzle devices. I think this gun shines when it's left in its factory barebones condition though. Maybe add a small red dot and you're GTG

What keel-tec need to do is to focus on the sub-2000 gen 2 (glock17) and stop ,or freeze production on most of their other models. Including your favorite " emergency gun"
