Ahh, Classic, you have no shame.

They leave up the description from the batch they got in a couple months ago where it says something along the lines of "this is the best looking batch we have EVER gotten"

Then they sell those out.

Then they get this new batch a couple months later, which are only in "Good" condition, which can be quite terrible looking if you read the NRA grading descriptions, yet they leave the part about "best shipment ever"

They also steal your hand select fee, they don't even try to pick you a nice one. They take the $20 and grab the next one in the crate and send it your way.

I was told this by a Classic employee after I bought a hand select item and it came so rusted, it shouldn't have even been sold as a gunsmith special, yet was also advertised as "better than our previous batches/really nice/etc"

Then I had to pay to send it back AND pay a restocking fee.

Classic is ruthless

i learned this firsthand the hard way. what a bunch of liars and thieves. had the audacity of calling me a liar when i called them out on it.

Yep, they claim to have Christian values, then steal money from customers by offering a fake service (hand select), then treat customers bad when they send them a piece of junk that never should have been shipped out.

This seems to be happening more and more often lately.

Beware of Classic.... I had many good experiences with them in the past, but 3 bad ones in the last 1.5 years and two REAL bad ones in the last 3 months.

Looks good at first, but I'm going to pass on this for three reasons.

-Classic makes you pay an extra $20 for a troop tag, which other retailers offer as a free bonus.
-Classic makes you pay an extra $20 for handpick, which is more than most other retailers.
-Classic doesn't have a stellar reputation for customer service, which always raises a red flag for me.

If Classic prices and/or fees drop, I may jump, but in the meantime I'll be looking for K31s elsewhere.

You forgot to mention the fact that they charge that unusually high hand-select fee, then don't even handpick your item!

This is a great deal. I've bought from Classic with no problems. Would buy again without a second thought. They ship fast and sent lots of tracking/update emails. Obviously inspect your gun before you accept it. Luckily I've never had to refuse anything.

I wonder how much lower K31s are gonna go? If they're really pouring in, I wonder if they'll get down to $250?

They definitely do not ship fast. They're about as slow as PSA.

Classic Arms sent me a K-31 without a front sight (front blade). Tried unsuccessfully to
have them rectify the situation to no avail. Appears like once you buy something from them
you own it. Janet makes promises, but does not follow through. Not the kind of front person
I would want working with customers. Very dissatisfied with their service.

Had a similar experience. Bought a cobra derringer that would not cock. They basically told me too bad so sad. Yet all the reviews on their website are 4 or 5 stars.

Why did either of you accept the firearms in question from your FFL?

Some of us have C&R's... I got screwed by Classic one too many times too. I think they hire blind people to do their hand picks. That is the only reason I can think of for getting a Chinese SKS hand pick with two huge cracks... Then the replacement came with a major repair in the stock. WTF??? Fool me once... shame on you...

Yea, the hand pick option is usually a waste of money. I doubt the parts puller/shipper pays any attention to whether the buyer paid that or not. The only thing to have to pay attention to is matching #'s if you pay extra for that.

On the SKS's you have to keep in mind - This batch that came in the country most recently are basically junk. They are all really rough. Most will function fine after a ton of cleaning, but most of the bluing is gone, stocks will be real rough, and there will be some minor rust/pitting.

Paying extra for the troop tag is just stupid. Better off just leaving it random than opening up the butt plates and tags ending up getting lost, switched around, etc..

Agree about troop tag and hand pick. But I did very well with a Chinese SKS from Tiger Imports right after I returned the SKS to classic. I ordered two from them. Both looked awesome. Cleaned up nicely. No cracks. Nice shooters. Exactly what I was looking for. No, they weren't excellent, but they weren't broken.
Also, keep in mind that Samco Global was selling troop tags by themselves.... Meaning, anyone that tries to sell you one with a troop tag is probably not even original with rifle. Does that make any sense?????
