Description
The P-3AT is a semi-automatic, locked breech pistol. It has been developed from the highly successful P-32 pistol with negligible increase in weight and size. The slidestop has been eliminated and the magazine capacity reduced to 6 rounds due to the larger cartridge. Thanks to its locking dynamics and superior ergonometry, perceived recoil and practical accuracy are comparable to much larger guns. The P-3AT is mainly intended for plainclothes police officers as a secondary weapon, or for concealed carry by licensed citizens. The small grip size and light trigger pull make the P-3AT ideal for female shooters.

As the owner of a P-3AT, you get what you pay for. Granted, I purchased when they were fairly new (maybe a year after introduction, prior to Ruger introducing it's clones) but if I had to do it again today I'd highly recommend looking at a Ruger instead.
After getting it tuned, finding ammo it likes, and breaking it it it functions fairly well, but I still find myself doing "unplanned failure drills" more often than I'd like.
I second taking a look at a Ruger. I had a P-3AT and sold it and got a Ruger LCP instead. Feels and looks nicer! Ruger LCP has all smooth edges while the Kel tec has sharp edges and lines from the mold.
