Description

Hungarian AMD 65 AK 47 Variant 7.62x39 Rifle
Built with original AMD 65 parts, from double stack rifles. This means that the bolt, bolt carrier, etc., were made to handle double stack mags. The receiver is an FEG stamped receiver. They are well built using a new U.S. made barrel, with the gas port, front and rear sight blocks aligned carefully, assembled and then the entire assembly is parkerized. Each rifle is tested with a variety of mags prior to shipping.

Could you shorten the barrel on this, move the sight, and then spot weld the brake after rethreading the barrel and have a 16" legal length? I want something that is closer to the original tanker rifle. Would all this cost more than it's worth?

This is $100 too much for me. $400 shipped and you got a deal.

The barrel on this AK is garbage compared to the original CHF, chrome lined Hungarian variants. That alone is enough reason for me not to buy this AK.

I suppose for $350, I probably would pick one up, but at $500, the value prop just isn't there. Spend another $20 and get a WASR - which comes with a Romanian factory-original CHF chrome-lined barrel.

16.5” Barrel (4140 chrome moly) is a bad joke.
I doubt these are feg receivers.
The originals came with chrome lined bores and FEG "made in hungary" white boxes.
If you were lucky and bought one back in the day they could be had for a little over $400.

The FEG AMD-65 is an outstanding rifle, when you could get the Hungarian barreled ones for $400. Charging $520 for one with an inferior US barrel is criminal.

Consider you will also need the AMD65tech stock w/riser, new handguard and new grip to achieve anything even slightly ergonomic. Unless you prefer no cheekweld (literally, theres nothing there), no grip on slick plastic, and 2nd degree burns when your offhand contacts the thin steel handguard.

I own one of these I bought years ago, it has been accurate and dependable. you may not like the wire stock as there is no cheek rest. you can buy a cheek rest adapter at amd65tech.com. my build was awhile ago, so although the parts are probably very similar, and the FEG receiver is well received, it may be a little different.
