I've searched this mount on Google and cannot find even 1 single photo of it mounted on an AR handle? Most handle mounts are the gooseneck type. There a few ACOGS and clones mounted high on the handle but none of these. If this sight is Tritium powered, it's brightness will halve in 12.5 years correct? So in 25 years plan on sending it back to Trigicon for a replacement of the Tritium. Is that correct? Also, the attached video has a rail mount which this unit does not have. Get ready to shell out more money for another mount.

I’d give it shot if it was a rail mount.

Just because the Govt. threw metric tons of cash at a company selling "OK" optics for a grand a piece? I can't think of one single instance where this dinosaur couldn't be improved upon by an optic costing 1/2 the price. People get fixated on "BRAND" and "HYPE" to the point of ignorance. If you think you need one of everything the Govt. buys in bulk, you'll be out of cash with a lot of lemons. Dropped a Sig 320 lately?

These things are enormous and obscure too much of the viewable area.

These were introduced at a time when the thinking was that the bigger the better with dot sights. Turns out, that is not true.

Plus, amber? Why on earth would that ever seem like a color that would make sense?

I'm thinking these are going down in price because of the new trijicon reddot now available.

What new red dot?

RMO.

Seems to be an excessively large dot at this pricepoint. I understand the purpose of these is for close quarters, but the general rule is accuracy goes up as price goes up (with exceptions). I don't recall ever seeing another reflex or other red dot advertised at 6.5 MOA.

I have this sight (6.5 MOA amber dot), but with a different base. Outside, in bright light, the dot is blazing bright with no flaring, and combined with the huge 42mm objective it makes sighting quicker than any of my aimpoints, XPS2-2 Eotech, or Mepro RDS.

That said, it suffers from terrible washout when shooting from a darker area into a lighter area (a known problem with these particular Trijicons). It is not as bad as its smaller (dual illumination) RMR siblings (as I can at least still see the dot on this model...a bit...) but it is so dim that it removes the advantage of speed in sighting (with the RMR you simply can't see the dot/triangle at all).

At night in zero or very poor light the amber dot created by the tritium is decently viewable, but transitioning between indoor lighting, indirect lighting, and zero lighting can make the dot very hard to see.

I would highly recommend that if you are looking at one of these Trij reflex sights that you look at either a Red or Green dot model as the amber simply gets washed out too easily (unless you are only ever going to use it outdoors, in direct light, then it is very bright, and very sharp).
