Video Transcript:
Independence Ammo comes from ATK, the same company who makes Speer, Federal, and Blazer ammunition. It's generally intended for economic range practice and features a brass case, non-corrosive primer, and a lead-core bullet with a full metal jacket.
We tested Independence 180 grain for the Smith and Wesson for this review. And looking at the technical specs, it's almost identical to the 180 grain Blazer Brass ammo. It's very possible that they're actually one and the same with just a different label. Blazer Brass is generally excellent range ammo, so Independence should also be a good choice.
We did have one failure to feed with ammo in our Sig P226, but none of our other test guns had any problems. Our 15-yard accuracy test from the bin produced pretty good results as well.
ATK has a very good track record for producing consistent, reliable ammo. And even though it may not be as common as some of their other brands, Independence is a solid performer as well.
