Chrome Moly Vanadium barrel? Golden rule of gunworld; you get what you pay for. Don’t trust a 308 under $700. If you look up chrome moly vanadium it’s meant for cutting and drilling, but it’s weak against heat, is brittle, and cracks easily. 308 guns are expensive because you want quality metals to handle the power of that caliber. This barrel will go boom in your face eventually. Not meant for heat or stress, which isn’t good considering it’s the damn barrel.
reading your post gave me autism. Chrome moly is literally called "machine gun steel"and used in the M249 and M240
Bruh… this system is a bargain and for the average dude who’s going to put a few boxes of ammo down range a month (most folks) then it an awesome package at an amazing price.
If you’re a super secret squirrel and your unit requirements over at task force RangerSealMarsoc mean you put thousands of rounds down range in a foreign desert where you and your buddies lives depend on 1/2 of a 1/10th of a moa then spend 10x the price of this system and get a SR25 or similar.
For most dudes this rifle will shoot better than they can and hold up a lifetime. Gun snobs are my favorite type of pretension.
I can't speak for the performance of this rifle but I can mention something about the "chrome moly vanadium" that you are disparaging. US military specification for barrel blanks under 2" in diameter, like the M16/M4 family of barrels, in fact requires 4150 CMV, specifically known as Mil-B-11595E, and the alloy is used extensively throughout the "gunworld" in many other platforms and by many companies as well....see 556/308 rifles by Colt, FNH, DD, LWRCI, KAC, PSA, Springfield, IWI, etc., and barrel makers like Criterion, Faxon, BA, etc. Perhaps you are misquoting the alloy formulation or its application to other industries?
Notice that this rifle does not have a forward assist. Not a big deal to many people.
Ordered this from KyGunCo. Shipped next day and I had it in my hands on the 2nd day. Haven’t shot it yet but seems to be a solid weapon.
What mags? Proprietary or will a generic mag work?
I ordered this from Anderson and received one Magpul 20rnd Pmag.
Any AR-10 LR/SR should work - metal or polymer.

looks like you got one? Curious if you have any thoughts about this. Might consider either this or the Ruger SFAR?
I've owned and own several Anderson rifles and built a lot of lowers. I've had great luck with them for good budget and mid range rifles. At this price if your in the market I'd give my thumbs up. Can't say anything bad about them for average plinking, range shooting, hunting and typical civilian use.
