Because it has polymer grips [vs. wood] and the cylinder is plain [vs. having the TX Navy's "Battle of Campeche" (from whence the "Navy" name comes for the model) roll-engraving that Colt used as a means of distinguishing his official products from any inevitable knock-offs that is lovingly recreated in the higher priced "repro." (quote were used, because it's not a .36, it's a .44, and Colt never made an 1851 in Army caliber, since at that time he was still selling the Army the Dragoon model in .44.)]

If it was a steel frame, I might be interested, but the brass frames inevitably shoot loose for anyone who uses the gun on the regular w/ the period-correct loads...
[Edit: originally posted 'Rangers' "Big Fight" as the roll engraving scene because I just got a Dragoon when I 1st posted and the different roll-engraving for that model was still front of my mind when posting about the Navy repop. Oops!]
