The Sig Sauer M400 SRP Classic AR-platform tactical rifle features an M1913 railed front gas block instead of a front sight tower. This sight-ready platform (SRP) allows the operator to mount an optic without worrying about the sight tower, and the gas block accepts all iron sights designed to attach onto a Mil-Spec Picatinny rail. This rifle also features a direct-impingement gas operating system with a rotating locking bolt, a 16" chrome-lined and phosphate-coated barrel, and a 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum forged lower receiver. The M400 SRP Classic is designed for use in law enforcement, military operations, and sport/competitive shooting.

How can I tell if this is a good deal or not? Seems like Buds prices are either ridiculously high or standard at best...

It's "not bad", I like these rifles, but they make an "enhanced" version that I have seen around this pice that includes a mid length chrome lined barrel (instead of a Carbine/non crome), and it has the Magpul stock, grip, handguard etc....

Personally, I think a Carbine like this should be $899 - $999 max, as it has no upgrades at all.
Basic desirable upgrades:
Mid Length (no overgassing, smoother operation, easier on parts)
Chrome Lined Barrel (may or may not be as big of a deal, Chrome lined last longer, but sacrifice a little accuracy)
Upgraded furniture (grip, handguard, stock)
Upgraded Bolt Carrier (a Full Auto M-16 Bolt Carrier is a better option than an AR-15 Semi auto Bolt carrier)
Some include extra Mags, slings,
Floating Barrel vs standard drop in handguard

I would personally look at something in the $800-$900 range, then put the parts on it you want, and still be ahead of the game.

Minor comment, all M400's have chrome lined barrels.

This optics ready version was down in the $700-800 range pre-panic.$1,150 is much too high for this model. As of May Colt's are dropping back down into the $1,200 range and M400 enhanced models are showing up at this price or less and are a better fit for most unless you don't want a front sight post.

You can see above the centerfire had it for $888 last listed if that gives you at least a starting idea. It isn't a terrible price for the times but if you compare it to what you could get elsewhere for the same amount of money that it is an outright awful deal.

While Sig makes a good rifle, still looks to be about 300 dollars over prices. Don't feed the hysteria and prices will come back down guys...

Check your local Walmart. I saw this one there a couple of days ago. I can't remember the price offhand, but I know it was closer to the $720-$750 range.
