The Beretta Nano is a better deal right now. I own both the Shield and Nano and can't justify the Shield over the Nano...especially given the current price difference. My experience with the Beretta rebate process was nothing to write home about. However, it was much better than what I just experienced with S&W.
Might be a valid point except that the item here is the California compliant Shield. The Nano is not available in CA.
$344.99 and free ship, not bad. with added rebate its the best price I have seen for a CA compliant 9mm shield. Too bad CA FFL's get to charge an arm and a leg for internet orders... even with high priced fees though, still cheaper than local. in for 1.
To those who voted the deal down? (Maybe the down votes were for a different price? but I am guessing they were because this gun is more expensive than the "free-state" models, but that's irrelevant, different firearm...) Show a better price for this gun (item 187021) if your going to say its a bad deal.
Actually $380 is a good price for an excellent (perhaps the best) pistol in it's category. While I'm a .45 guy, I do have one of these in 9. Awesome and once you factor in taxes, fees, etc I paid $490.00 in Kalifornia. If you live in a free state, I'm sure you can buy this for far less.
does slapping "California Compliant" on the description suddenly make this worth $80 more than recently seen on this site? sportsman's outdoor stuporstore Should've thrown a "tactical" or maybe a few zombie references to add another $20 each
actually it kinda does, in a galling way. guns simply cost more in california, because of all the added state regulations and therefore paperwork and employee time at the counter when you but one. so californians are resigned to paying more, and out-of-state merchants can get away with charging them more. if you live in another state, count your blessings this regulatory/economic burden doesn't bear on your firearms purchasing decisions.
I have both and trust me I am biased, but I can't shoot the nano for crap! The shield on the other hand is a tack driver...I have both but really only enjoy shooting the Smith and if j could unload my nano I would, but it's not worth the loss. Shield hands down!
