First of all - I can tell you the product comes with a letter from ATF allowing the front grip. Secondly and more importantly - the quality of these firearms is crap. I had an extractor break off on this very product in 7.62x39. Spoke to the company and they agreed to replace it but I had to send the broken one to them first. Sent the broken one and then got an email saying they received a torn envelope with nothing in it. I went through all that crap to send it back and then they claim they didn't receive anything. Ended-up ordering the part elsewhere but will never do business with Franklin Armory again. Unfortunately I have 2 or their products and will be getting rid of them ASAP. Their customer service is the worst!!!

So many "clear cut" options out there, I'm not touching this!

Hmm... Vertical front grip on a pistol?
Read this first:
https://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/firearms-technology.html#vertical-fore-grip...
$200 tax and more paperwork, or up to 10 years in prison.

Better to buy it without the grip or with Magpul's AFG/AFG+ instead (which are NOT considered vertical grips -- there was a letter from ATF about that, google it).

Its not a pistol as its over 26" long, or a rifle as it was never manufactured to accept a stock. It is simply a "firearm" that falls through all the NFA cracks and can have the vfg. They have an ATF letter for it. http://www.franklinarmory.com/XO-26_Letter__c_.pdf...

Yep, this. Loophole in the law.

This is no more a loophole than a PGO shotgun, it's a firearm, but not designed to be fired from the shoulder so it doesn't meet the statutory definition of a shotgun. Letter of the law <> loophole, it's just the law.
