Hornady® ELD-X™ (Extremely Low Drag eXpanding) Rifle Bullets offer extremely high ballistic coefficients, and superior accuracy to give you a match-grade, expanding bullet for ultra long range hunting. To counter the effect of heat deformation to polymer tips, Hornady developed the Heat Shield™ tip, made from heat-resistant polymer, which maintains the bullet's aerodynamics for the ultimate in long-range accuracy. A secant ogive and optimum boattail design further enhance the bullet's streamline, aerodynamic shape to reduce drag, minimizing bullet drop and wind drift. Hornady constructs their ELD-X Rifle Bullets with a thin jacket at the tip to initiate expansion, and a thicker jacket at the base combined with an Interlock® ring to keep the core and jacket together and control expansion for optimum weight retention and deep penetration.
