My next door neighbor bought a third party (aluminum) complete lower w/stock a couple months back for $89 from PSA.

It was a helluva good deal, the title of this thread reminded me why it was at that price.
The Bolt catch and magazine release were plum colored. Just yesterday I swapped out those plum parts with a Geissele maritime bolt catch which was matte black.

His rifle turned out well. 5.2lb 6.8SPC II is pretty awesome. Made it out of spare lightweight parts I had that were gathering dust. Told him if he bought that $89 aluminum lower, I'd make him a lightweight 6.8 with a ARP barrel.

This is a pretty bold entry for the GII. They have done nothing to the original aluminum design to compensate for the weaker material in high-stress areas, and are re-entering a market where lightweight hybrids like the Tennessee Arms have both a better design on its face AND several years of high volume testing on the 3-gun circuit, while selling for $35-$40 stripped.

The best thing about these are going to be their lightweight polymer lower parts kits, which is the best option for a monofocused lightweight build. BTW, the originals with the plastic hammer were lauded as being possibly the best standard trigger pull on the market. I know, weird right?

I sold my New Frontier based build for a tidy profit during the last scare. Wish I still had it. Which would I prefer when the SHTF? Aluminum. BUT for a good, and at one time inexpensive, lightweight build I have little problems with plastic lower receivers. I would like to try the Tegra "carbon based" life form, I mean unit, but am not seeing any feedback outside of the company.
As for the plastic lower parts kit, they are produced(?) by a company known as Accu Group and sold by New Frontier Armory. If they are sold out, join the email list to be notified when they are back in stock. They are about $35, come around every 2-3 months and sell out quickly. They are amazingly good with a crisp clean break.

PS: NEVER use a commercial buffer tube in a polymer lower receiver. Actually, just don't use them. The threads have(!) to be undersized. I suspect commercial buffer tubes are the reason for more polymer failures than any other.

Is there any way you can weigh it for me? I'm interested in its weight without the butt stock / rear furniture..... Trying to build an AR pistol but my state says all pistols must weigh 50oz or less.

Thanks for your time

It is my understanding Federal Law prohibits converting a long gun into a handgun. It becomes more complicated as manufacturers register the serial number as being for a handgun or long gun. Have you considered an 80% lower?

Does anyone have a weight on these lowers? I'm looking to build a AR pistol that weighs under 50 Oz's . Looking for an idea of their weight . The weight of the lower without the rear furniture would be ideal.

You know, polymer lower for my kid or wife, maybe... but polymer internals like the hammer? Think I must pass

I just can't pull myself to trust Tupperware gun parts....too many other options out there in these lower price ranges made out of aluminum.

Does that go for Glocks as well? Glocks, Kahrs, etc all have polymer lowers.

I've got two of these lowers (among other high quality lowers) and they both function just fine. Would I take a polymer lower into battle, no. Would I use a polymer lower to shoot at the range and out in the desert with friends and family, absolutely.

But for 30 more dollars, would you buy an aluminum lower from PSA? Why not?

A plastic receiver is pure crap. Do not be fooled buy an aluminum USA made receiver. Anderson is cheap but 1000% better than this crap.,
