Originally purchased from Russia, these rifles were beginning to show their age. Rather than replace the rifle entirely, a program of refurbishment and updating the rifle began in 1924 with the Civil Guard's M24, essentially an M91 with a heavier foreign-made barrel and updated sights. But, following the trends at the time for shorter handier rifles, both the Army and the Civil Guard then began experimenting with designs to improve the M91 rifle.

Historic Tula Manufacture Russian M91/30 Mosin Nagant Rifles, Arsenal Refinished, 5rd Bolt Action - 7.62x54R caliber. With Bayonets, - These are original Russian manufacture with no modifications to the rifles. We have a mixture of Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4 condition. We also have custom options to purchase by stock type and receiver type within each each grade. These are all manufactured by Tula with the famous Tula Star on the receiver. This is a very special group of Russian made rifles that were imported from the Ukraine. We are told that they were original Russian Bent Bolt Sniper Rifles but that they did not have their scopes with them when they were received into the Ukraine. In lieu of having the scopes with them the Ukranian's fitted the rifles with a side rail that would allow the rifle to accept most standard PSOP / FPK / Etc... scope mounts and for whatever reason they also threaded the ends of the barrels allowing the rifles to accept muzzle breaks.

Please Note: We have received these rifles from several different suppliers over the years. They were all sealed with cosmoline to prevent rust and corrosion, so expect to spend some time removing this oily substance. The lot we are currently shipping from includes ONLY the Rifle, Bayonet, Oil Bottle, and Tool Kit.

The 3-line rifle, Model 1891 (its official designation at the time) was adopted by the Russian Military in 1891. There have been several variations from the original rifle, the most common being the M1891-30, which was designed in 1930. When the Soviet Union was invaded by Nazi Germany in 1941 the Mosin–Nagant was the standard issue weapon of Soviet troops. As a result, millions of the rifles were produced and used in World War II by the largest mobilized army in history.
