The forty-year-old IWI Galil ACE is based on the reliable mechanics of the IMI Galil rifle, which was inspired by the legendary Russian AK-47 and the Finnish Valmet Rk62. The IWI Galil ACE firearm family consists of pistols and rifles produced in four different calibers: 5.56x45mm NATO, 5.45x39mm, 7.62x39mm, and 7.62x51mm NATO. The IWI Galil "ACE" series is designed as an improvement over the original Galil rifle. The primary enhancement was using polymer materials to make the new Galil ACE considerably lighter. While the Galil ACE lower and furniture are made of high-strength polymer, the upper receiver is milled from ordnance steel. The Galil ACE multi-caliber platform sports the charging handle on the left side and is available with chrome-lined hammer-forged barrels in different lengths. The significant upgrades over a standard AK are the polymer railed fore-end on the Galil ACE and its two-stage trigger. The original Galil ACE has a six-position telescopic stock, but there are modern pistol versions with a brace folded to the right.
