One of the most critical components of any AR-15 custom build is the handguard. In recent years free-float handguards have increased in popularity. The free-float handguard covers the barrel and is attached to the upper receiver via a barrel nut. The handguard serves many functions in an AR-15 build kit such as protecting the shooter's hand from being burned by the barrel, offering the shooter something to grip to help steady the weapon, can function as the attachment point for sights/optic, can have additional accessories attached, and adds to the aesthetic appeal of the build.

About this Handguard: The MLX M-LOK Handguard has a slim profile and improved ergonomics. It features an M-Lok rail attachment system and the top is a classic Picatinny rail which is both perfect for attaching your favorite accessories. The MLX Series uses the FREELOK Clamping System that utilizes free-floating tabs to secure the rail to the receiver. Another advantage of this clamping system is that it provides frictional AND mechanical locking to create a secure fit between the rail and barrel nut. Lastly, this handguard is crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum with a hard coat anodized finish to keep it reliable.
